I designed these models as a series of flower pots for 3D printing. Plants growing out of geometry dominated by right angles—the thing that struck me about this concept and motivated me to put these ideas into reality is the extreme kind of contrast that can be demonstrated. Cubic geometry –hard, precise, and unchanging– shares space with tender, dynamic, delicate life.
I’ve got two of these 3D printed now. Succulent plants work best because they stay small for a long time. Most plants require vessels with drainage holes, but those can easily be drilled through the printed material.
