Hue Paint tool: Match your photos to any color scheme

Photos before and after the hue paint tool is applied.

Hue Paint is a digital tool I made to force a given hue (color) onto an image, but only where it looks right. So, if you pick out a specific “red,” you can make all the reds in the image match it, and leave the other colors unchanged. This is a subtle way to make any photo match a given color palette. This image came to my mind a year and a half ago when I was sick and more-or-less stranded in Australia, at the tail end of my vacation, because all the airlines were canceling their service due to covid. Tiered Mansion interior (image series)

This creation is another indoor space—a large atrium containing three tiered platforms, each being a semi-private space leading up to a curtained-off bedroom area. The platforms are narrow in the center which gives the look of overlapping bridges and leaves most of the atrium as empty space. Continue reading

Let me just say, categorizing this as “art” is a big stretch. But it features some of the same technical skills, so there’s that. As a gag gift for a White Elephant Christmas party at my office, I created this image in Photoshop and had it printed and framed. I also printed out a huge poster for myself, which now hangs in one of the common areas of our building on Microsoft’s campus. Continue reading
