I got a job at Microsoft!
I was hired as a technical writer for Microsoft’s Content Publishing group. Our job is mainly to manage the Windows API reference pages and create conceptual content (how-to guides) for 3rd-party developers who wish to make applications for Windows.
When a Microsoft dev team creates a new feature for Windows that 3rd party app developers might want to use, I meet with the manager and/or members of the team to learn about why the feature was created, how to use it, which parts are most important, etc. Then I make sure all the new classes and members are covered in the API reference, and I create a guide (or add to an existing one) showcasing what I’ve learned.
It’s a good fit for me because I love learning new technology, and I’ve always been pretty good at writing.
