Velocity (sculpture)

I took a sculpture class at Wheaton because I wanted to pick up some useful perspectives for the projects that I do on the computer. In this project we learned how to model a human head in clay and were given some liberty to make the project our own. My aim was to suggest the exhilarating sensation of forward velocity. I did this by deforming the hair, shoulders, and skull structure of my model, and by giving the model a focused but content facial expression.

Some deformation happened in the firing process, but it was my first time modeling with clay so I can’t complain.
